There are however anemones of a different type which do have blue flowers and which do look a little like smaller versions of Anemone x hupensis (the soi dit Japanese Anemone). but for the life of me at present I cannot remember its name.

Are you thinking of Anemone nemorosa, Owdboggy? I have that - yes. it is blue but it's like a Windflower, very fragile stems and much, much smaller than the Japanese type. Then there's Anemone blanda, too - also comes in blue. If you go to my page and look in 'my garden' they are both there, if that's any help.

No, the one I was thinking of is a herbaceous perennial type. I know that A. trullifolia has a blue form, but not sure if that is it. I have a large number of different forms of A, nemorosa and other Anemones too.
