I have a well-established Benjamin Fig as a houseplant. Two days ago I put it outside to treat it to more light and many of its leaves have turned white. It has had direct sunshine for a few hours each day. Is that too much sun?

Well, it can adapt to much more sun than that, but it obviously wasn't ready for it yet. I recommend finding a good, bright spot for it indoors, and leaving it there. Moving it around just causes damage and leaf loss.
