This year I grew some courgettes, some of them grew round to the size of a small pumpkin, they were not tasty. Why did they grow like this?

Let them ripen and save the seed. Next year pick them when they are about the size of a cricket ball (or baseball).

There are round courgettes - it you let them get too big all courgettes turn into marrows.
