Don't expect to have blooms for several years. The seedlings will look like grass for the first year or two.

If you are in the south (Sagres to Algarve), the fall is the best time to start them. My bulbs start growing then. Grow them as if they were cebolas - which is what they really are.

bury them about 2mm below the surface in good compost, water well and keep them warm. Germination may take up to a month.
