We have a Variegated Chestnut which has produced some unvariegated suckers. Now I do know how to remove them etc, but the question is WHEN? I know that some trees if damaged at the wrong time tend to bleed to death and this was a very expensive purchase.

All I tell you is that I have removed suckers off this in early Spring, before the leaves, and it grew away fine. They do recur though.
