Was the seed green? It looks like the type of pumpkin grown for the "hulless" pumpkin seeds or pepitas sold as snacks.

Looks like a pumpkin or some sort of gourd.

well it is a squash of some sort and a relative of the courgette. but as to which one I don't know. some one else might recognise it.
