Are they for sun or shade?

Hi Snoof. ..In the sun...patio roses, gerberas, pelargoniums, succulents, agapanthus, dahlias, some varieties of clematis, callistemon, dwarfing trees (trees grafted on to dwarfing rootstock, including apples and pears), olive tree, dwarf varieties of buddleia, weigeila ‘Monet’ and other dwarfing forms of Weigela, sedums, strawberries, raspberries (patio types), blueberries, herbs.

In the shade...hostas, hydrangeas, camellias, rhododendrons (smaller varieties), ferns, ivies, fatsia, pieris, heucheras.

These are a few suggestions. Basically, you can grow pretty much anything in a pot as long as the pot is the right size, and you look after it well. You will need to water it every couple of days at least in summer, and even in the winter during dry spells. You will need to feed it with liquid feed every week during the growing season, and keep it well protected during the winter during cold spells. If its an acid loving plant, you need to make sure its planted in ericaceous compost, and fed with special feed.

Just discovered dwarf hydrangeas too - perfect for containers and they won't need moving into the ground after a few years.
