I have six potted Golden Cypress trees. They have been shaped....that is a ball shaped bottom, then thin trunk and ball shaped top.Unfortunately they have started to go brown and I wondered if I've over-watered them or not watered them enough.I also put a small amount of tree food into the soil. They stand about 4'tall.Jane.

If you have them in containers with adequate drainage, I would say that it would be difficult to overwater given the weather conditions this summer. Perhaps, just the opposite, lack of water or scorch from sun or wind.

What sort of tree food, and how much is a small amount? It is easy to overfeed container plants, especially with foods not intended for containers. Also, did you water both before and after feeding?
