I bought a fancy pelargonium with red spots on the leaves & a few days later I had a cluster of green ?? in rainwater on some leaves. I washed the stuff off & thought nothing of it. 2 weeks later I noticed tiny green catapilars munching on a patio rose bush. I must have fished off 30 of the little blighters just now. They are about 1/4 of an inch in length exactly the same green as the leaves....I don't fancy spraying as the roses are all out in the 2nd flush...Could the invaders have been on the pelargonium?

I did see birds hovering by the bush....I wonder if I end up with more roses than leaves.

The short answer is probably yes. Hang a bag of peanuts near the plant. Blue tits & sparrows will help you out
