We keep ours in the garage on a table, spread out and not touching one another, keep checking them though because if one goes off this can sometimes spread to the others, we keep ours right through til spring and beyond.

try using ladies stockings put one in the bottom tie a knot above the apple put another in tie another knot etc/etc then hang in a cool place.
