orchid question probably for Spritzhenry
I've just bought two of the small phaleonopsis and the daintiest cream one has lost a bud-- just went papery and fell off, others on the branch are filling out-- its for a gift, I watered it --with a drop of plant food as well-- then let it drain before putting it back in a fancy pot, it did get caught by direct sun the other day is there a problem do you think ?

thanks spritz, it was a special offer in tesco!, I'll water once a week as I'm doing with the dormant one ( thats in a conservatory with cool evenings maybe flowers one day?)

Watch out that the temps between night and day aren't too different, Pam - they like being kept at no less that 18 degrees unless you're giving one the 'shock' treatment when I put them in a room a few degrees lower for three weeks. That's to persuade it to flower.
P.S. I like special offers! :-))))))))

Thanks -and you're welcome. :-) It should work - fingers crossed!
H. is a bit lethargic - we think it's probably time for a blood test....however, the good side is that he hasn't had any more fits.

Hi Spritz with regard to the orchids, the one with the tiny flowers had a second flower spike which is in full flower and the first has lost all the flowers but halfway down now has what looks like a shoot growing will this be a new flower spike ? do they do that
also good news, the dormant one looks to be growing a tiny new spike and also the roots are showing new growth.. things are happening... amazing...
thanks for your advice. love to Henry.. Pam

I wouldn't have thought so, Pam. Maybe it was nice and cosy in the Nursery or shop, and had a shock when it was moved...this does happen!
Good luck with them...:-)))
