You need to hurry up though before the sap starts to rise so I would say yes.

Not too late to prune now. It blooms on new wood. Prune before it breaks bud in the spring.

basically prune jan feb and then july aug as it flowers on the new wood laid down in the summer. pruning then helps to ripen the summer shoots and produce more flower buds. the jan feb tends to be to constrain its size and allow you to see the flowers.
