The tubers are Calla Aethiopica tubers but should I be planting them now? Other information that I have is that they should be planted very shallow with the tops showing. So you see I am seriously confused.

Really, the correct time to plant them is from March - May, but I think if you've got it, maybe it's best to plant it. They need to be planted with the growing point upwards, at a depth of 15cm. The latin name is Zantedeschia aethiopica, and the hardiest one is called 'Crowborough' - with large white flowers. This particular one likes moist soil, even to the extent of enjoying pond and stream banks, and can stay in the soil.
All the coloured ones you see in packets or in pots aren't hardy and need to be dried off and stored for the winter.
I do hope this helps!
