Look who I found eating my apple! Was expecting stripes but got spots! are these harlequin ladybirds? and if so what should I do about them.

superb, I get wasps ( see my photo's) you get ladybirds, both excellent garden pest controllers. Great photo also.

forgot to add, they do not look like harlequin's, apparently they have the letter 'M' or is it 'W' just behind the head, either way I have just read that we should not be panicked by these newcomers as this sort of thing has been going on for millions of years, nature redresses the balance if left alone.

And in any case, it is not eating the apple, just taking advantage of the hole created by something else for perhaps a lick of juice, but more likely just as a shady resting place. Ladybirds are meat eaters.
