they can be put in your bin, but i never put tomatoes or potatoes in my bin in case either are suffering from blight. i tend to think better safe than sorry. diadon

I, also, prefer not to compost ours, never sure what they might be harbouring.

but there again my tomatoes have never suffered with any blight etc
