if all the leaves on my clematis have gone brown will it flower next year
Did the plant collapse suddenly, ie within a few days? If so, it's a victim of Clematis wilt. Cut the dead stems back to the base and destroy them.
If you planted it deeply, you may well find that you get new shoots appearing in the spring, when you should feed your Clematis.
