Hi everyone, I purchased a brunnera yesterday from a fairly local nursery.
I always fancied one. Any tips on caring for it please? I've planted it under a tall Acer in a sleeper bed, close to a fern, yucca, ornamental grass and a pine of sorts.
Appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

Yes they prefer a shade situation, I like to plant them along with heaucheras and ophiophogum, the effect is fantastic, I recently planted these under a group of Acers, and cotoneaster Cornubia, I planted Brunnera Jack Frost, you will find that in the autumn they completely die back, they have lovely forget me not like flowers, if it’s very dry then give them some water as in very dry conditions they can flag a little.

I agree with the above. I have mine in semi shade and they do seed around quite freely.

Thanks Derek, that’s a big help! It will get a little sunshine later in the afternoon. It’s a fairly cool site I’ve planted it in too.

Thanks Julien, sounds like you have planted yours in a similar site. I’ve a small ophiophogum at the back of the sleeper bed, plus the acer too! I wasn’t sure if it would die back in the autumn, thanks for the info! The little flowers are just like the forget me nots aren’t they! Pretty.
Thanks for the advice too!

Thanks you Seaburngirl for your info. Part of me pleased that it will drop seed and spread. I’ll keep an eye on it!

Hi Kate, these like a fairly fertile soil, moist but well drained, in a fairly cool position, not too particular about soil p h, and don't mind some shade, Derek.
