Depends where they are, at the base or up the stem. If up the stem and you don't want them, nip them off. If at the base, leave them to grow on or dig around and see if you can get a good piece of root with them, cut with a sharp knife and pot them up. This assumes the rest of your plant is healthy - these growths often occur when there has been damage to the trunk or growing point at the top, which may well have occurred during last winter, in which case, they should be left to take over.
