When do you lift lily bulbs from the garden? do you cut the foliage off? and how do you store them for next year? thankyou

thanks for your help the lilies are mainly asiatic if i wanted to lift them so i could put some tulips in for spring is this ok? how would i store them this is our first year with lilies.

I would leave the lilies in the ground and plant the tulips in with them. The tulips will flower first and then the lilies will come along. They will be quite happy together. We often plant different bulbs together like this.

i dont lift mine at all. they come up year on year.

True lily bulbs, including Asiatics, never go completely dormant, Dawnmary. They don't store well at all. Much better to leave them in the ground, lest they dehydrate.

What kind of lilies - if you mean things like tiger lily or Lilium regale, for instance, you just leave them and they grow again next year, don't have to dig them up at all.
