I was given a cutting yesterday which has been soaked in water. All I am told it came from a lovely plant, does anyone have an idea what it is called.

Thank you in advance.

Might be Mahonia aquifolium... does it have clusters of yellow flowers in spring?

I thought Mahonia too love the flower colour but really don't like the smell. honey may be good for bees but does nothing for me sadly.

Yes it was a Mahonia aquifolium. It didn't live just went back into the ground.
