why has my brown turkey fig tree only produced dried up fruit this year when other years we have had good fruiting seasons ?

'Brown Turkey' figs have "open ends" which allow more insects in than most varieties, so it may be the results of fruit beetles or fruit flies. That would mean that the fruits turned mushy before they dried. As Bamboo said, drought is also a possibility, though 'Brown Turkey' is a relatively drought tolerant fig. Was it in a container, while the others were in the ground?
