We are blessed with several roses in the front garden. There were several planted in 1980. Only one I know the name of Nevada. The others are with thin or thick stems some flower once & others all summer long. One or two have just one stem so I'm not sure if a prune is a good idea. Some are in bud & Nevada has started flowering yesterday. I have cut away all of the deadwood on it so it will be the smallest show in 20 yrs.
Still have 7/9 so not bad.
Do we have rose lovers & experts?

Count me as a rose lover but not expert. I have 4 roses, and know the names of only two, Deep Secret and Albertine.

I'm quite pleased with Albertine as it came from a hardwood cutting taken from one at my daughter's house a few grandchildren back and I only found out it's name last year

You know what? One of our roses is a really really scented hybrid tea that flowers non stop & looks like Deep Secret.
It is taller every year and has a bit of black spot but the flowers are rich & velvety & fragrance like a damask

Older roses often appreciate more nitrogen than standard rose food. A few grams of Epsom salts often also causes new canes to break.
