trailing pelargoniums/ scented pelargoniums would be very happy there and can cope with slightly less water.

Heuchera's could be nice too as there are some stunning colour forms but watch out for the vine weevil.

Don't know but you can buy small ones that grow and then get bigger ;o)

if shaded there are some lovely small Hosta too.

I think something trailing would look nice -I'd go for pelargoniums too.
