This fuchsia has small brown spots and patches of brown, is it caused by a fungus and would be grateful for any advice. The plant is dying on the top.

If you have other fuchsias remove this one from near them. Check the backs of the leaves of any other fuchsia. Are there dusty looking orange bits on the back of the leaves? If you find any remove and destroy any affected leaves and isolate the plant. This one looks as though its too late for treatment to do any good but you could try an anti fungal treatment on any other affected plant.

Thanks for the advice Steragram2. There’s no other fuchsias, I will have a look at the backs of the leaves though. Surprised how quickly the plant started to die, it looked fine last week.

I fear this one may have gone to far to save. Worth checking if it has been under or over watered. Another thought - were the leaves always yellow, ie is it the variety Genii? In any case try the fungal spray and treat the backs of the leaves as well as the fronts.

Thanks Steragram2, I’ll try some fungal spray. The plant is in my Mums garden, she’s elderly and forgetful so I don’t know how much or if she has been watering it. The leaves are normally a light green I think. I have no idea what variety it is, it was given to my Mum.

Ah well, if (when) it dies altogether maybe she will forget she had it. My memory is rotting too so I have lots of sympathy for her. Pity though, I love fuchsias don't you?

I love this fuchsia, I’ve got my fingers crossed it survives.
