Rose minnihaha, which I bought from David Austin garden centre last year and the flowers are now a different colour has also developed another problem, I noticed the buds have fallen off before they have opened. I found a pile of them on the floor but if you just knock them they will fall off. It’s not all of them but somethings not right with this rose and I want to know if I can do anything about it.

balling is usually associated with wet weather. have you had lots of rain?
it could be due to lack of water. Check a bud is it brown and slimy and the normal colour inside?
the rhs link is one of the best for accurate info.
It seems such a shame as this rose is usually such a reliable one.

The buds aren’t slimy, they are dry and brittle, I have been watering 3 times a week and giving it a good drench. It’s just so disappointing when you wait all year and are anticipating a good display of bright pink flowers. As it’s not a repeat flowering rose it’s a long wait until next year.
