Hi everyone, hope all are well and enjoying your garden despite of weather/plague/riots.
Haven't been on this site for years but now I'm hoping the expertise frequently shown on here can help me.
I usually lift my dahlia tubers to store over winter, however this year I left them in the ground and all have returned well. In fact too well! One in particular is now reaching the top of my 6ft fencing. My question is, is there anything I can do
now to reduce their height I.e can I give them a July version of the "Chelsea chop"?

Hi Seaburngirl. Thank you, that's a really nice message. Might give it the chop just before we go on a 2 week holiday to the Cotswolds, in the middle of this month. Hopefully it will be on the way back by the time we return.

You can but it will delay the flowering.
