It's a red milkweed beetle - Tetraopes tetrophthalmus

It is indeed T tetrophthalmus and is native to North American continent. It is in the group of beetles called the Longhorn beetles.
it lays its eggs near the roots and the adults feed on the foliage of the milk weed.
