Who can ID this tree with the bark peeling off? It's growing in Manhasset, Long Island, NY in front of Northshore Hospital. Thank You.

Betula papyrifera? common names paper birch or canoe birch...

Maybe a form of Himalayan Birch (Betula utilis)? Possibly attacked by borers?

difficult to tell as the leaves are not clear.
the bark does remind me of birch however.
