I have a new mallow is it advisable to replace it after a couple of years it has flowered non stop all summer

If its the shrubby, woody based kind, they're not long lived plants, but you won't need to replace every couple of years - cut it down in about April, as growth starts, to within 6 inches of the base, every year.
