when i pull back the leaf of my corn cob the corn is white when is it ready

1st, it is generally considered that when the tassles at the end of the cob have turned brown they are on their way to being ripe.
2nd, when you press the back of your thumbnail against one of the coblets if ripe they will ooze a creamy liquid.

If the liquid is clear, it's too early, and if it doesn't ooze, and the kernel is doughy, it's too late--still edible, but tough and not too sweet.
