Hi i was wondering if anyone has grown Japanese/Chinese variegated privite as a screening type hedge?

There is a hedge of it in the village and looks nice. The chap also has one as a standard tree. It is fully hardy but prefers a slightly drier soil so doesn't like to sit in winter wet.

Thanks so what's the difference between Japanese and Chinese? I find them difficult to find as little cheap plants they seem to be grafted into lolipops a lot. I think they are low growers and are graphted for height?

It is a different species Ligustrum lucidum where as the Japanese one is Ligustrum japonica. The Chinese one seems to be faster growing.
