This pretty little plant is probably a gift from a passing bird, but unfortunately it didn't leave a label as well. I hope it won't turn out to be a weed and I hope someone will know.

It won't stay 'little', either! It grows into quite a large shrub, Bernard. I'm not keen on them, as the berries drop all over the place, and also the stems flop! I dug the ones we inherited out. I hope you get on with it better!

The gold leafed variety, ('Golden Lanterns' I think) is very pretty. Phil J

I think it is a lovely shrub but it does spread rather easily by its many berries.
It's flowers are rather exotic

Well, wouldn't life be boring if we all liked the same plants, Meanie. A passing bird has 'planted' one on the top of my stream wall, where I can't reach it! :-((((
