I have been advised that sawdust is not good for the garden, but wondered if this was correct or not. I use sawdust for chicken bedding and don't want the chicken manure to go to waste. Please advise.

Sawdust (and wood chip) take nitrogen from the soil as they decompose. However if well composted first, at worst they make a good soil conditioner, and if mixed in with other composted oganic (and richer) matter, they're fine. Phil J

Previous question
I compost the sawdust from the rabbits in the normal compost bins. then that goes on the garden when i dig it in. so its not wasted but i dont use it fresh.
