Thanks guys!! Tree surgeon couldn't shift it because of the strong deep roots. I'll try the Bushwood killer. It's about 25 years old.

I did wonder if it was too close to the building. once dead it will rot away. with things like this in the past I have killed them then using a trowel i have exposed the roots and using small hand axe and saw cut away at it periodically until it is all gone. Took a lot of perseverance .

He couldn't shift it? huh? Has he ever heard of a chainsaw or wood chipper? That's what they do.

The SBK will certainly kill it but won't get rid of it. Sadly thats just going to be a case of cutting it up and carting it away.
