How do I stop my apples from containing earwigs and other such non edible lodgers!

And do not grow a variety called Catshead, where the centre is hollow and make the perfect home for earwigs.

I don't think you can, being realistic. However, think how much nicer they taste (the apples, not the lodgers) than those boring, unripe, unfresh supermarket ones, all the blooming same shape and size.
