Could anyone suggest container plants for a shady area of the garden?
My house is north facing and one part of the garden gets absolutely no direct sunlight at all. I've tried looking on a few professional websites, but am getting confused so would appreciate some advice.

Cyclamen do well in shade and pots, primulas do as well. Both are quite small plants. Japanese acers like shade if you're looking for bigger specimens.

Bergenias, some of the medium-small Hostas, variegated Euonymus, Fatsia....

Thanks for all of the suggestions.
Going out to the garden centre this weekend with a list.

Have you tried Tiarellas? Otherwise, some ferns would be happy in this kind of environment. You could also add some trailing ivy to soften the edges.
