are cyclamen pants hardy for planting in winter

Answers

If you mean the smaller ones being sold as winter pot bedding in garden centres, they will survive till around Christmas, maybe January. There are hardy cyclamens, usually bought as corms, and different varieties flower at different times of year.

You can buy Cyclamen hederifolium at the moment, in pots, in flower. They will seed around if happy. Cyclamen coum will be available in Spring, as it flowers then. These are both hardy and will last for years, just be aware that the foliage dies down during summer, so mark the spot where they are.

Re spelling - I used to have teddy bear 'pants', but never cyclamen ones! As Volunteer says, cyclamen coum for spring, and c. hederifolium for autumn flower, both small (3-5in.), and hardy, and gently increasing in number. Excellent for naturalising under trees. Phil J
