clematis leaves wilting at lower end of plant

Answers

It may well be the beginning of your clematis losing its leaves, depending on which variety you have. Don't forget that many plants are deciduous.

If the plant suddenly collapses, though, in the space of a few days, then that's clematis wilt, and the best thing to do is to cut the affected stems back to the base and destroy them. Your plant may well send up new shoots in the spring.
