Hi, a few weeks ago I noticed some weeds/plants growing out of my lawn. When I tried digging them out they were attached to what seemed a long root that growing under the lawn then throwing these shoots up randomly. Been away for just over a week and now got in region of 20 separate shoots in the lawn. Any ideas on what it is and advice for eradicating? I dug a few out but end up ripping up lumps of the lawn to get horizontal root out. Many thanks

yes it does look like 'suckers' froma nearby tree. Cherry trees tend to be devils for doing this.

Somewhere nearby is a tree. That tree has roots. Those roots go under your grass. The roots are now producing shoots. Answer. Find the tree and sever the roots which are growing towards your lawn. Not easy.
