I suspect there is something attacking the roots. Is it in the ground or a pot?

If it were me I'd lift it wash off all the soil from the roots and repot in fresh compost. then prune to about 6-10inches water well and keep your fingers crossed.

Thanks SBG it will have to wait for at least 5 weeks as I'm away in the morning, I'll see how it is when home again
