Should I be doing anything with my pepper plants ie nipping out leads or buds?

No pruning needed: that just reduces the crop.

That me just got your replies I was getting the error message something went wrong I have taken one in doors the other got chewed by a beastie!! A couple of small buds have fell from the survivor but I have a pepper about the size of a ping pong ball!! Thanks

You can move the pepper plants indoors when it gets too cold. They do make an attractive houseplant. Pot them up in a larger pot with new potting mix, move them to a nice sunny warm place and keep well watered. Move them back outdoors in May and they will continue producing peppers for you: sooner & more abundant!
