USDA zones 6-7 by your later questions. After the tops are killed by frost, I would dig up the rhizomes, and store them in a cool but not frosty spot in a store room or garage, probably packed in sawdust or peat, to keep the moisture up a little. If you put them in plastic bags, put a few pinholes in to allow air to get in.
