If I cut solidago now

I have a lot of Solidago in a portion of the garden & it gets too tall. If I cut it down about by half, will it still bloom in September?

The presenter on our national TV gardening program was cutting back a late-flowering perennial earlier this evening, so it can still be done. It will probably delay the flowering by about a couple of weeks

It is probably a bit too late now. In the UK we do what is called the Chelsea chop which is usually done 2nd to last week of May to coincide with the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
You could do half and see if they flower this year and if they do you will know for the future. Let us know how you get on.
