Salvias

My two Salvias were hit by the frost but just when I was about to pull them up one of them showed a tiny green shoot at the bottom. I was delighted - but now it's disappeared! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that another will appear but I'm wondering if it's a faint hope.

Our Hot Lips had lots of still green growth on it, but Amethyst Lips and Cherry lips seems to have given up the ghost.

I’m sorely tempted to dig up my salvia. There seems to be no life in it at all. However, I shall cut the dead twigs down even lower than they are now to ground level and hope. After wandering round a couple of garden centres they have few salvias on show. Those I have seen are very tiny so perhaps it’s still a bit too early yet. On the other hand…….

Well I dug up my Salvia yesterday It was as dead as a dodo. No green anywhere and dry brittle stems. I shall miss it as it flowered profusely all summer. Not certain if I shall replace it though if we're going to get such low winter temperatures again. On the other hand.............
