What is the life span of a snowy mespilus? My 40 year old tree has been looking very tired over the last 18 months. I love it but perhaps it is getting too old... like its owner

That's a good age, and perhaps, for a naturally suckering genus, to be grown as a tree, it's coming to its natural end. It may be that it needed to spread its little underground wings (i.e. spread some suckers out) a bit to lighten the load on the main stem. Phil J
