I am hoping someone can tell me the name of this shrub. I need to purchase another one as it appears to be dead. I live in zone 5, Michigan. The first photo was taken on May 8th. The second photo was taken on May 11th. Thanks so much!

The images were there when I looked earlier yesterday, before the site outage.

i wonder if it is one of the Syringias. Neighbour has one that has a totally different looking leaf to the common lilac. the flower shape is correct though lilac usually have 4 petals and these are 5. Cant think which one it is at the moment. so perhaps it isnt. I'll shut up now!!

Almost certainly Deutzia, possibly D.scabra. Mind there are 20 0r so very similar species.

I would go for Viburnum Burkwoodii but there are very many American hybrids the best one being 'Mohawk'.

If it is a Viburnum then the flowers are very, very poor. They should be in tight sets rather than spread out like the ones in the image.
Would need a close up of the back of a leaf to be sure what it is.

Not positive, but that reminds me of Deutzia
