Hi I had a Lovely Codyline, Which suffered servere damage in the winter -11c
I had one piece of advice ( cut down the trunk when you come to the solid part.) which I have now done, then hopefully it will start to grow new shoots about June/July. Is this correct or should I give up and buy a new one?

I agree that they can and do regenerate from the base if not dead. As Jimmy says nowt to lose.

Mine hasn’t, but then I did give up on it rather quickly. I think they are nicer when small & I’d had it for a good few years, it was becoming a tree.

I would look to cut the stem down to about 6 inches in the hope that you get some new growth generating from the bottom. After all you have nothing to lose.
