The dreaded mare's tail/ Equisetum arvense/Horse tail.
Almost impossible to get rid of it, sorry.
Weedkiller does not work unless you bash the stems before applying.
At least you can now clean your Pewter things!

Have a look at Kurtail Evo Horsetail Killer & K Plus Bundle. This is supposed to do the trick but very expensive.

Worth paying for though as the roots go down astonishingly deep and it is very hard to get rid of. Some gsrdeners call it Devil's Guts.

Thank you all for your input. This ground is outside of my property but next to my drive it has gone 3ft up drive but this has been like it for the last few years I have been pull up shoots and spaying rest with weed killer. I will try different weed killer.
