I have just been looking at the Geums in my borders. Something has been eating them to pieces. At first I thought that it might be slugs or snails but the ground is too dry to accommodate them. On further inspection I discovered the culprits to be caterpillars. I have been growing Geums for quite some time and never seen this before. Has anyone else had this problem?

There is a Geum sawfly which can decimate them.

yes a couple of years ago moth caterpillars enjoyed my geums. The damage wasn't too bad and the moths were pretty [cant remember what species now]. Geums recovered with plenty of water and next year they flowered fine.
