We have a leylandii hedge that is about 18ft long and 13 ft high, it provides a sound barrier and also supports a fence, we feel that it is now to high and we would like to have it reduced by about a ft , to just above the fence . We have had 3 quotes all very different , 2 suggest just having a tight trim and not reducing it ,due to cost and it being a bigger job, no mention of it creating a problem with fast growing branches .the other will do either but suggest that by reducing it’s hight that the remaining upper branches will grow a bit wild and not look so tidy,
Our leaning is towards reducing it ,making it easier to reach the top , even if the top does go a bit haywire rather than the danger of leaving it as it is and it get even higher .
